Social Worker

Department: Prevention North Bronx Fam Service
Location: Bronx, NY

The Social Worker position at involves providing home-based, intensive, strength-based, and comprehensive services to families dealing with child abuse and neglect or child welfare safety concerns. The Social Worker will work within the Solution-Based Casework (SBC) framework to support these families effectively.

  • Reports To: Social Work Supervisor
  • Location: 2471 Morris Ave. Bronx, NY 10468
  • Hours: 35 hours (Exempt)
  • Salary: Social Worker - MSW $58,000 to $65,000
    • Social Worker - LMSW $61,000 to $72,000

Major Duties:
Direct Work with Families:

  • Provide home-based and on-site individual, family, and group counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy, and outreach for a designated caseload.
  • Engage families immediately upon referral, collaborating with relevant services.
  • Implement Solution-Based Casework principles - assessment, action plans, and documentation.
  • Handle case-related crises professionally and with care.
  • Conduct screenings and assessments related to mental health, Domestic Violence, educational neglect and child safety.
  • Integrate SBC practices into counseling sessions.
  • Ensure regular assessments and appropriate case work contacts.

Administrative and Advocacy Role:

  • Collaborate with various service providers and resources to support families.
  • Provide consultation and collaboration with Family Workers as needed.
  • Collaborate with ACS, Family Court, and other service providers in safety decisions.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and certification processes.
  • Prepare documentation, reports, and case notes as required.
  • Maintain utilization of databases to support case management.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work required.
  • Child welfare experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and counseling skills are essential.
  • Ability to work some evenings per week for families' convenience.
  • Strong inquiry skills and a commitment to best practices.
  • Commitment to strength-based, trauma-informed, youth, and family development perspective.
  • SBC training and/or certification is a plus.
